1. General rules:
Rules that would make sense, even to those not really possessing a
brain, or are unwilling to use said organ.
ALWAYS read the first post of the thread to see what rules apply.
Abide them. If you fail to this, your post will be ignored or
perhaps even deleted and you have wasted not only your own time,
but also those who read your post.
-No OOC posts in RP threads.
-No use of smilies of any kind.
-No abbreviations outside the ones to rate your thread.
-No raping the grammar.
-Check your typing on typos. If you're unsure about the spelling
of a word, look it up. We're on the internet and a dictionary is
easily found.
-I strongly suggest people will have respect for one another.
Those who are not that great at the written word but still attempt
their best are not to be frowned upon.
-Be sure to not use words you -know- most of us will not be able
to understand (including those who actually are of English origin).
2. Making the forum easier to read:
Thread ratings.
To make the forum easier to read, I thought of using a little
trick I have seen before. It's not very hard to use, but will
clearly state what thread is what to the person reading the forum.
To use the ratings, type them between brackets behind your thread
title. Be sure to state OOC or RP first and if you do use rules,
mention the proper rating at the end.
IC threads :
RP : Roleplay.
A thread that is used to RP in.
C : Closed Thread.
You are only to post here
if you are mentioned in the first post of the threadopener.
E : Erotic.
Specifically used to point out the thread is meant to be erotic RP.
O : Open.
And open thread where you can post in no matter if you are
or are not mentioned in the first post of the threadopener.
R : Rules.
This thread uses the rules as stated here. Read the first post of
the threadopener to see if the rules are modified, additional rules
are implemented or are ignored.
S : Special.
A special thread. Rating is to be used for threads that do not
fall under the normal ratings.
OOC threads:
OOC : Out of Character.
A thread that is not used to RP in. Randomness, however, is frowned
upon.
C : Closed Thread.
Rare rating for an OOC thread.
You can only post here if you're invited.
D : Discussion.
This thread is the place to discuss the RP thread associated with
this one.
S : Special.
A special thread. Rating is to be used for threads that do not
fall under the normal ratings.
Sn : Sign up.
This is where you sign up for the thread associated with this one.
Please remember that an OOC thread is normaly open, so the O rating does not apply.
Examples:
A walk in the park (OOC/ D/ Sn)
This would be an (OOC) out of character thread to
(D) discuss the IC thread 'A walk in the park.'
You can also post here you would like to join (Sn)
said IC thread.
A walk in the park (RP/ C/ R)
This would be an in character roleplaying thread (RP)
Only those mentioned in the first post of the thread are
meant to post here (C).
The roleplaying rules apply to this thread (R).
3. Additional rules:
These are rules that may be included, altered or not. They are,
however, not part of the basic rules set and can there for be
ignored often by threadopeners.
Minimum posting rule:
You may want to stimulate a certain way of roleplay by setting up
a minimum posting rule. Like I said before, I would personally like
to see people write more then but one line of text.
It's dull and frankly not very inviting to respond to something
in the lines of:
"X walks into a bar and takes a chair."
Godmoding and metagaming.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godmoding
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metagam...-playing_games)
Both ways of roleplaying are frowned upon in roleplaying circles. However, it seems to be used a lot on these fora and I can't really make it a basic rule.
Threadopeners may feel free to add this rule very freely.
...I'll give cookies to threadopeners who do so.
Sub rule to the Metagaming bit to stress out something that is noticed:
A stranger in a strange land.
You don't always know who is who in a roleplaying thread. It is
illogical to know who you meet on first glance.
Rules that would make sense, even to those not really possessing a
brain, or are unwilling to use said organ.
