Ideas for a Casual Roleplay (OOC, D, Sn)

Okay, so whilst staying at Drago's place over the weekend we both got talking about starting a roleplay here on the forums.

"What!? You guys did more than fucking each other senseless!?"

Yes we did >< I'm sure Drago will be able to say a lot more about this than I can but I think that this could be really good if enough people joined.

So basically, this is an ideas thread. If anyone has any suggestions for a roleplay then feel free to say it. Although do keep in mind that it is not based entirely around sex.

"A non-erotic rp!? Who are you and what have you done with Del!?"

The rp could be anything from full scale war between two hostile planets, right the way down to small skirmishes between two rival villages. Sex would be allowed but not very often. It's hard to have sex on a battlefield...

Anyway! Like I said, post anything you can think of. I can just tell this is gonna be great ^^

Indeed we want people to pitch in a lot of ideas. Me and Aqua are also chatting about what could be done. Colonization of a new planet, spurt in evolution, alternate dimension where bounties are on monsters, need food for home planet. All sorts.

Rules and limits need to be thought of too. I think magic and superhuman abilities should be knocked off, too difficult to judge what a fireball and waffle of rape could do.

What about a revolution going on? Not quite a war, but some sort of poorly treated party that want's more rights, of course tensions would be hot and a full blown war could possibly erupt.

forced colonisation could be cool. A war between the inhabitants and the colonisers(no avatar was a bout stripping the planet of its resources not colonizing it)

Ninjas? THEY'RE fine I guess. Any type of character would be accepted but god powers and anything that will break the RP would not.

A revolution? Or a cold war? War seams to be the preffered theme right now.

Good grammer and english would also be appreciated..

It doesn't have to start as a war, it could be something like the French Revolution, little scuffles here and there then Fwoomp! Up in flames.

Of course it would be a lot different, but that was my basis. Or an even better scenario would be the old Japanese Revolutions back with the Samaria's and such. It doesn't have to start violent, that would give us more room for a back story.

Cold war would make things very interesting. Conflict could never actually occur but it would allow a heavy reliance on spying.

I think it should start out as a cold war, then maybe erupt into an actual conflict.

I have an idea. Instead of being on a side in a war, how about being the middle man? I mean a group that has no place on either side of the war, like a faction or group of mercenaries. They can either exploit the war to their own advantage or hire themselves out as hires guns to the separate factions.

You can take that idea Doc and blend it with everyone else. Sounds like everyone is wacky for war. Now then, on Earth? Time period? Specifications of each side? Why is there war? (over land, supplies, minerals etc)
Ask more questions for others to answer.

suggestions:alien world (not sure where does it matter though mabey in the milky way) slight future (2060?) specifications not sure reason for war:valued substance which would mean if one gets it the other side would die?.

I guess I'm out of suggestions then, if it doesn't fit, nothing I have thought out will work for flat out war.

I'm just thinking, does anybody know the Warhammer 40k universe? A roleplay along those lines would be pretty damn cool. Factions to pick, characters to play. Orks to start a Waaaarrggh!

Oh dear god, it's like Insomniac all over again (other cool guy I used too know on a forum, he did Warhammer models and stuff.)

sounds wicked r we talking an RP in the universe or closley based on it? also we would need quite a few roleplayers to make it good

How did I know you'd say that Drago? I think that would be best, seeing that I have some kind of knowledge of that universe.

Indeed why should it be war? Why not just a group of strangers, banded together to aimlessly wonder the land. Or those that have been kidnapped by an unforseen force, trying to escape the horrible clutches and sights of the plague bearing facility. Why not even a haunted manor? I've always wanted to do some horror based design.

well 40k wouldn't work for that everyone shoots on sight and then you'd get a full scale war pretty fast

I'm also going to toss on in the pocket monsters idea. I know that works well in many other places, sometimes to the point it gets remade from over use =P

As for 40k, could work out differently. One dungeon master vs whoever else there is.

I'm just giving examples, anything goes. Anything where you can easily jump into for newbies would be good too. A deep story may frighten some off.

Yea, you may be right. Or maybe it would kinda be like a DnD thing where a story goes on for so long, then once the dungeon or quest is done it's a new mission.

I am aware of the monster things, not in depth knowledge on what they do =P

That could work pretty damn gewd. Implications of various factions wouldn't matter too much, would it? A chaos, ork, space marine and eldar group working together would be a sight.

In the fringes of war, temporary alliances could be made between different factions, right. You could really clump any groups together if you give them a powerful enough common enemy.

...Oh and, a master ball has a 100% success rate >3> Put you only get one per save file.

Exactly, now hero only units? Something (Thinking necron) has cut off all their armies and may have some mind fuckery to turn them against each other. Who knows? Wink wink nudge nudge.

It doesn't work on people, ha.

That sounds like a decent idea, perhaps there could be some sort of giant unknown enemy to come into the whole works later, there's no reason we can't expand on the universe.

One last thing to do, all in favor, put down a character. I will ask and persist for good english. Any words that have been cut down to a single letter: 'r' 'u' will be asked to change over and over and over until you are a fricken wizard with words.

Well then I guess I should be alright, I do fairly well with grammar unless I'm in a hurry (choppy message coming your way Drago >>). As for a character I'll have too think.

I've always favoured for Ork Warboss Dragoth will be some fun to mess with. With me bigga' shoota and power claw, nuthin' can stawp me.

Of course I will fall in line of dungeon dominator.

I'm not intimately familiar with the inner workings of the universe, so I'll have to do some research before I am able to pick a character. However I do have the DnD handbook (downloaded), so I should be okay on that front >3>

Huh..well that's just great since I have no clue how DnD works, I was more thinking an overseer to the operation. "As our misfit heroes wondered through the tainted land, a giant tentacle grabbed them and.."

So what? We're not going down to that level. I know Chaos would rather do a mass sacrifice than side with Space marines and the Orks would stop a Waargh over fighting along side the Imperial Guard. Who cares? Think of it like a DnD thing, random adventurers with a 40k theme.

That's exactly what a dungeon master does, while I've never played DnD myself, I know how it works. They narrate the thing and play the part of the enemy/boss. They say what is and isn't fair, and decide stuff.

Two Orky Warbosses? Oh all hell shall break loose.. I may do some concept art for my character, may as well. I think the races should be limited: Space marines, Chaos, Eldar, Tau, Imperial Guard and Ork.

I'm stuck between SM or eldar, tau are boring for an RP and magical powers would be fun, but the thunderhammer is calling.......screw it marine cptn i'll get some concepets up later

Fair enough, but I think we should have a little more flexibility it weapon allowances. For example 'The ork had a battle ax in one hand, and a warhammer in the other.'

Force Commander then? No idea why but they always seamed too alike to me. They all can't stand helmets? Come on. Keep in mind you may pick up some extra stuff along the way, so unfortunatly you'll have to put up with a chainsword and bolter.
